I like contractors so much I married one, but don't worry, that's not a requirement for us to work together! You work on a couple of contracts a year and don't have a huge amount of purchases. You're perfectly capable of issuing your own invoices to clients and recording your purchases. What you do want is for your annual accounts to be submitted and for someone to be on hand throughout the year if you have any questions.

I'll help you get set up and give you the tools you need to keep your accounts in order throughout the year. It's pretty hands off from my side until it comes to do your annual accounts, but i'm here for any questions you might have during the year.

How it works

You'll use ReceiptBank to upload all of your receipts and expenses and then do your own bookkeeping in Xero (recording your costs, issuing invoices to clients, and so on), and will commit to keeping this up to date. Towards the end of the year we'll have a call to make sure that everything is ship shape for the accounts, including discussing any dividends you want to take. Once the year has ended I'll use the information you've recorded in Xero to prepare your accounts.

What you get

From just £75 plus VAT per month you get:

  • Xero subscription (worth up to £288 per year)
  • ReceiptBank subscription and initial training (worth up to £240 per year)
  • Monthly payroll for one director
  • Zoom call towards the end of your financial year to help you prepare and plan for next year
  • Annual accounts
  • Corporation tax return
  • Confirmation statement, including the £13 Companies House filing fee
  • Self assessment tax return for one director
  • Email support

Don't worry if you haven't used Xero before. You can add on a set-up and training session for just £39 plus VAT, which will give you what you need to hit the ground running, plus you'll get some handy help sheets to act as reminders.

I need a bit more

If you need a bit more we can add on things such as cashflow forecasting and budgeting, creating a package tailored to what you need. Most of my clients are comfortable submitting their own VAT returns, with me on hand for support as needed, but if you'd prefer me to submit these for you that's fine too!

Your commitment

Keeping on top of your bookkeeping is best done in small regular chunks. Ideally you'd spend a little bit of time each week, but as a minimum I suggest that you make sure Xero is fully up to date on a quarterly basis. This means that you'll have a really good understanding of how your business is doing and are less likely to be surprised by things at the end of the year.
