You may have just started your business and are looking to keep costs low by doing as much as you can yourself, or maybe you feel comfortable doing your own bookkeeping but want an expert eye to look over things and to generally be a safety net in case you encounter problems. Many business owners choose to do their own bookkeeping, particularly in the early days, or if their business is pretty straightforward. But flying completely solo can be scary. What if you make a mistake? What do you need to show HMRC? How do you record that expense you incurred on behalf of a client? Helping Hand is exactly that, a helping hand when you need it.
What it involves
You'll do all of your own bookkeeping (recording your costs, issuing invoices to clients, and so on), and will commit to keeping this up to date on a monthly basis. We'll have a call at the end of every month to discuss any queries you have, and I'll also review what you've entered. If you come up against any problems in between calls, you also have access to email support.
In order to do your bookkeeping you'll need bookkeeping software, so a monthly subscription to Xero is included. When you first join Helping Hand we'll have a call to set up your Xero account and tailor it to your business, followed by a training session so you have everything you need ready to hit the ground running.
What you get
For just £50 plus VAT per month you get:
- Set up of Xero account tailored to your business.
- 45 minute Xero training session using Zoom.
- Monthly subscription to Xero.
- 30 minute Zoom call every month to discuss any queries and how your business is doing.
- Email support as needed.
If you need a little more you can add on payroll for one director for £10 plus VAT per month, or quarterly VAT returns for £15 plus VAT per month.
Keeping on top of your bookkeeping is best done in small regular chunks. Ideally you'd spend a little bit of time each week, but as a minimum I ask that you make sure Xero is fully up to date on a monthly basis. This means that you'll get the most out of our review calls and also means that you'll have a really good understanding of how your business is doing.
There is a minimum contract of 3 months.
